The Beginning
Mr V C Bootle, or John, founded the company in Melton Mowbray in 1978. John Bootle started as a “commissioned operator” at the Jet Station, on Thorpe Road Melton Mowbray Leicestershire. This soon progressed however to the fuel division side, which initially commenced from an office in the family home, with one tanker and Driver. The first deliveries commenced in January 1982. From its humble beginnings in 1982 Brobot Petroleum Ltd. has continued to expand the fuel distribution side of the company to currently, two depots operating from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire and Atherstone in Warwickshire. These two depots cover a large area of the West and East Midlands running 10 tankers. We also supply single skin , bunded tanks and fuel depot oil storage tanks accross the UK. On the retail side, the company has also expanded and presently has 21 forecourts and convenience store operations located in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, Northamptonshire and West Yorkshire, 19 are Jet branded and 2 are HDL. Today Brobot generates a turnover of some £120 million per annum and employs over 270 staff. John Bootle regrettably passed away in June 1996 however Brobot continues to be a family owned business.
